Most schools ask kids to sit still and wait. At Philly ALC, kids are too busy building, making music, debugging code, and planning their next project for that. Curiosity isn't something we try to spark here—it's something we try to keep up with.

Philly ALC opens its tenth year next fall, and we need $10,000 to get there.

For nine years, we've run programming built on a simple bet: kids who direct their own learning, in a community that takes them seriously, grow into capable, curious people. No grades, no bells, no one telling a seven-year-old and a fifteen-year-old they can't work on the same project. Just kids following their own questions, alongside adults who trust them enough to let them.
That bet has paid off for nine years of students. Now we're asking for help covering this year's core operating costs—the ordinary, unglamorous expenses that keep the doors open: rent, insurance, materials, and staff who show up every day for kids who need adults who actually listen.
$10,000 gets us through to year ten. Every dollar past that helps us build a real cushion, so next year's fundraiser starts from a stronger place than this one.

We're building the self-directed education community in Philadelphia. We serve families from all backgrounds and use trust-based tuition so finances aren't a barrier. But we need support to:
