Join us for an open house on Tue, Oct 20!
When Philadelphia public schools are closed, Philly ALC School is open! Kids ages 5-18 from any school can spend the day with our students and facilitators in a community built around self-directed learning.
Camp days follow the rhythm of a regular school day. Kids choose how to spend their time, mixing free play with activities they can opt into. That might mean building a fort, playing board games or group games, drawing, making music, reading, or heading outside. Younger kids and teens share space and often learn from each other. A daily quiet period gives anyone who needs calm a place to read, work, or play in peace.
Everyone follows our community agreements, which include working through conflicts together and asking for consent. Facilitators are with the group all day to support kids and help newcomers settle in.
A camp day is also a great way for families curious about Philly ALC to see our community in action.
