The Commons:
Co-Working
at Hawthorne
Learning at home doesn’t have to mean learning alone.
The Commons is a shared co-working space for teens and adults who want a place to focus, create, and connect. Parents can settle in here to do their own work while their kids are thriving in our Roots program. Older teens use the space to keep up with schoolwork, tackle projects, or just experience what it’s like to show up consistently and work alongside others.

At The Commons, we believe that learning isn’t just about subjects — it’s also about accountability, presence, and practicing the skills that matter in any workplace. This is a space to start developing those habits, surrounded by community.
Bring your laptop, your notebook, or your next idea. The Commons is here for you.

Our Pay-What-You-Can Approach
The commons is built on the idea that learning, working, and community shouldn’t be separate. Parents deserve a space to connect and contribute while kids explore self-directed learning. Because we see this as a shared resource — a “commons” — we use a pay-what-you-can model instead of fixed fees.
This approach keeps the space accessible, while trusting families to contribute what feels right and sustainable.
